Caller told me their name was Dion Wilson aka "No ID" (Head A&R of Def Jam Records), he told me that I was 1 of 25 producers that was chosen to possibly get signed to Def Jam. Said that 20 producers were guaranteed to get signed and that the last 5 would at least receive $2,500 - $5,000 for showing up. He wanted me to hurry up saying that Def Jam hours on Sunday would be closing soon and that I need to hurry up or he would pass the opportunity to another producer. I took the chance, not wanting to regret the decision. He wanted me to send a couple hundred via Western Union. I told him I could only do $200 at the moment and that I would do it via MoneyGram. Although he is calling from a California number, he told me to send the money to Nidia Torres and Guishaw Rowe in Manhattan, NY. I did what he said. He told me prior that he was giving me a discount and would pay for the rest of my expenses because he believed in me. And that he would reimburse himself once I got my check for showing up. Well I fell for it and he began to ask for more money. Inconsistent with what he said prior. The following day he asked if I had ever even been to South Beach? I said no, thinking this guy doesn't even remember where he told me the conference was. And then I said I only had so much money, a smaller amount then agreed on before. And he was still willing to take it even though it was quote unquote not enough. Long story short, Don't fall for it like I did.
