The SRA is aware that members of the public have been contacted by “Chris-Weir Promotion†from the email address: "karen@internet-mail.org." The sender calls herself “Karen Gâ€Â.
The recipient of the email is invited to contact "Barrister Allan Rodriguez LL.B (Lon) B.L"Â, who claims to be an "International Accredited Claims Lawyer"Â at "Berwin Leighton Paisner Law Partners."
The SRA has seen a letter which falsely claims to be from "Allan Rodriguez" claiming that the recipient is entitled to receive a "grant"Â or "prize" of 2,5000,000 million dollars from a charitable trust. The letter contains the firm's logo and claims it is authorised and regulated by the SRA and quotes an SRA number: 605592.
The recipient is asked to complete a “payment processing form†and provide identification documents so the sender can purportedly process the money.
